Four departments issued a document to promote the digital transformation of the city

Cities, as the habitat of human life, carry human yearning for a better life. With the popularization and application of digital technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and 5G, the construction of digital cities has become a trend and necessity on a global scale, and it is developing in the direction of temperature, perception, and thinking.

In recent years, in the context of the digital wave sweeping the world, as the core carrier of the construction of digital China, China’s smart city construction is in full swing, urban brain, intelligent transportation, intelligent manufacturing, smart medical and other fields are developing rapidly, and urban digital transformation has entered a period of rapid development.

Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Data Bureau, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Natural Resources and other departments jointly issued the “Guiding Opinions on Deepening the Development of Smart Cities and Promoting Urban Digital Transformation” (hereinafter referred to as the “Guiding Opinions”). Focusing on the overall requirements, the promotion of urban digital transformation in all fields, the all-round enhancement of urban digital transformation support, the whole process optimization of urban digital transformation ecology and safeguard measures, we will strive to promote urban digital transformation.

The Guidelines propose that by 2027, the nationwide digital transformation of cities will achieve significant results, and a number of livable, resilient and smart cities with horizontal and vertical connectivity and characteristics will be formed, which will strongly support the construction of digital China. By 2030, the digital transformation of cities across the country will be comprehensively achieved, and the people’s sense of gain, happiness and security will be comprehensively enhanced, and a number of globally competitive Chinese modern cities will emerge in the era of digital civilization.
